A little sick

hey guys just a heads up I think I am not going to make it to our meeting our class tonight. Been feeling a little under the weather since yesterday ( I think its a combination of the heat and allergies/cold) If there is any new important information please relay that to me asap cause I love hearing input. These are some screenshots from a game called Titan Quest. I thought they might be relevant because of what we want to do with forests/trees in the game.

It might be hard to see at first, but in all of these screenshots they manage to incorporate trees without encroaching on your view of the character or what's going on in the game.

this is a rough symbol i thought i would use for the logo for the game. it is on my UIX homework. thought i would post it here see what people thought

FINALLY I post.

So, what I've been doing...


So, typeless creature number one... me and Ryan were lightly talking about maybe making the typeless monsters plant type, because they're from the forest. lol. This was also made before we decided on the overall shape of the creatures...








This one is me saying, "Hey, I wonder if I can make an enemy that doesn't look like an enemy..."
Needless to say... I dont really like it. lol











My girlfriend decided she wanted to draw Olive, so she gave me the drawing and I colored/shaded it. I know the hair needs to be longer and a bigger bow.













And thats it!! I'll be working on more creature stuff... OH, on that note all models are concept models, so... nothing permanent or that I'm dedicated too.

Just a reminder

Tonight we are meeting at my place to go over some things about the game. Remember to bring any sketches you have and whatnot. We will all meet at the school around 7:20-7:30ish (I take the bus from work so please be flexible.) in the student lounge.

I also got us some food to cook on the grill, however if any of you guys wanna help in bringing some chips or soda, or beer that would be greatly appreciated. I just hope none of you are vegans!

Late night and 4 cups of coffee later...


I was thinking more and more about the design of Olive and decided to give it another shot before I went to bed. This was a spin off of Grants idea with some slight nods. I was also thinking of a back story to help explain why olive looks that way she does.

Olive got her name due to her abnormally green colored hair (olive colored.) She also wears a bow to hold her long hair back, later on in the game play the center of the bow changes to the element that she is current attuned to (for example, the center might be a flame symbol, water symbol, or cloud symbol.) She wears her father's military jacket as a reminder of him when he is deployed; it is obviously way to big for her to wear but she loves it to death and refuses to take it off, even though her mom has gotten her nice dresses to wear just like the grown ups. Olive also carries around her sling bag, full of snacks, drinks, and other various materials. As a vent from reality Olive is constantly adventuring in the nearby forest (it will eventually become her inventory system housing her health potions, buffs, monsters, and other trinkets.) There in the forest, her imagination can really be let loose. She feels that while she is in the forest she does not have to worry about things like growing old, getting married, and eventually dying. Adventurous, curious, and courageous Olive while soon be tossed into a world in which her imagination becomes reality and the things she fears the most will be on the hunt for her.

I would also look at how they manage their movement in the game as well as their battle system, it is tile based just like how we where kinda thinking and its just beautiful.
